Cross around the corner

With road season winding down and with the nice fall weather this weekend it seems to have everyone zeroing in on cyclocross racing. We have been building all manners of new rigs for the upcoming season of races. The local Bamacross series and several national caliber events close to home are lining up into several of the team members schedules. We look forward to seeing you out there!

If you are trying to ramp up for cross or trying to capitalize on some late season fitness there are a couple of new late season races on the road this fall with the Dothan City fest and Pensacola Stage Race in the upcoming weeks.

Also in the next month or so are the Ride for Wishes at the beach and Pedaling for Kids Century in the Fairhope area. If you are interested in the Ride for Wishes and want to be a part of a team you can visit the link to get the details or stop by the shop and talk to Jason. It is a great local charity to be involved with and a fantastic time to head to the beach and ride.

Thanks to all the guys and girls out riding, racing and flying the colors!!

The BBC p/b Wheelworx team had a few of the boys getting it done at the Tour of Atlanta this past weekend and brought home 2 top ten GC finishes! Gavin taking 2nd in the Elite category and Tony just missing the top ten; then Jan and DMac took on the Pro 1,2 field with Jan taking 9th in the GC among a very tough field, great job to all the guys who were there flying the colors. This weekend we are looking forward to the Bump and Grind at Oak Mt. state park, head out to see the the new "Turn and Burn 360" race on Saturday and then the big race on the newly expanded 21.5 mile loop through the park, should be a great time as always.

Track Time

BBC p/b WheelWorx has been ripping up the concrete at the Dick Lane Velodrome. Jan was the sole representative for the Fourth Tuesday Pursuit night. Not having gotten his new cog and chain ring, he was still a little lite in the gear. Despite this he still managed respectable top 5 placings for the night and won his individual pursuit heat.

The next Tuesday, Jan again made the trip solo and unleashed his dominance. Winning both the Snowball (by a substantial margin) and the Win and Out and taking third in the Scratch Race, he easily won the Omnium earning his upgrade to the C's.

Wael tested his metal against some of the best track racers in the southeast at the Pro Race Series. He represented well, placing 3rd in the Scratch Race and Miss and Out, 4th in the Unknown Distance and Snowball, and 5th in the Points Race. These results netted him 4th overall.

Wael and Jan jetted over to partake in last nights Wednesday Night racing. Jan opened up his C racing by placing 3rd in the Scratch race. This was just a warm-up as he went on to win the rest of his races and the omnium. It will not be long before Jan is rubbing elbows in the A's. Not to be out done, Wael represented in the B's with 3rd in the Scratch and Win and Out and 5th in the Points race - netting him 3rd overall.

Weather permitting, we will be making the trip over next Wednesday. I hope to be joining my track mates to give a first hand account of the nights racing.
